me @ youth'09

participated in a photography contest during youth'09 event last weekend. The competition is played as a knockout game---only winners of the rounds get chance to participate in the second round.

each participant is given 30 minutes to shoot 10 photos relevant to the theme set by organiser shutterasia. Among 10 photos, choose 5 best photos to compete with his/her rival.

at first,i dont think my skill and creativity is good enough to join the game until the end.
But surprisingly, i'm better than what i thought myself to be and i went until the semi-final round and be 1 of the 8 ppl who stayed up for the competition. Luckily they judged more on creativity and relevance than skill, if not i think i would have been "ting" off in round 1.

i still think that it was my luck to be able to stay in the contest after i joined for 3 rounds.Until i beat 2 of my rivals to become the winner of round 4 in my group. Then i lost in round 5. One more win to bring back home a camera as prize!!!(i must always mention this)

round 1 theme 1 :red

round 2 theme 2 :
action
round 3 theme 3 :taste

round 4 theme 4 :friends

round 5 theme 5 :surprise

prizes:-
first place : nikon D40x worth rm2000++,if i get it sell it then no need to fundraise so hard lorr.
second place : nikon cool pix camera worth rm1000++
third place : nikon cool pix camera worth rm700++
fourth place : nikon cool pix camera worth rm389

[i took the photo but din buy the cake.]

[while ppl shooting chicken burger.i took this]

Although i din manage to carry the camera home
--which i will sell it to fundraise for expedition fees,
i definately learned sth thoughout the whole competition.
1. my first approach to strangers and require them to pose for me. and follow the pose i taught them.
2. photography needs to use brain a lot. Creativity.
3. photography can train muscle...--i walked a lot to search for good shoots.until leg muscle pain on the following day.
4. purpose of taking photo.not just to make it leng leng.

last but not least, raleigh KL was at youth '09 too.helped out,had fun and took some pictures there.
